Dear Parish Family, As we celebrate Priesthood Sunday, the most well-known of the quotations from the Patron Saint of the Priesthood – John Vianney, Is “How good is our God!” Isn’t that true? Our gracious God spoke to the good men we know as our priests and created their vocation. We honor them on this special Sunday for their devotion, their wisdom, and compassion. St John Vianney experienced first hand the French Revolution of 1790 where the anticlerical terror forced priests to work in secrecy or face execution. St John Vianney believed priests were heroes. He struggled with his studies and worked hard to learn. He was devoted to the sacrament of reconciliation and had the gift of knowing what to say to the penitents, often reminding them of sins they had forgotten or were afraid to confess. Our priests have different charismata and ways of sharing the Gospel with us, as we listen and learn from their preaching, the gift of connecting to us and from the talents they share. We are blessed to have Fr Stanley as our Pastor and thank him for his service and love of St Mark. Our prayer is for him to have a long and healthy ministry. May our loving God, bless Fr Stanley. Mary Jo
