When we sing Oh What A Wonderful World, it used to have more joy and less strife in it. Anne Frank in her infinite wisdom said “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” It is up to each and every one of us to do our part and make this world a better place. We read and hear of tragedy over and over; so, what can I do? Make a difference!!! Care for and about one another!
The Catholic Church teaches that the earth and all of life is a gift from God. We as humans have the responsibility of taking care of it. We believe to make the world a better place, we must care for the earth, promote peace and love one another. Mathew 5:14-16 teaches us “In the same way, your light must shine before others, and they may see your good deeds and glorify our heavenly Father.”
It is important to respect creation, the sharing of resources, and yes love. “ What does love look like? “ It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has the eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs of sorrows of men. That is what love looks like, according to St Augustine of Hippo.
