Dear Parish Family, As we celebrate our independence and freedom on the 4th of July, let's remember to thank God for the privilege of worshiping as we choose, and for our forefathers who helped make this possible in our great country.
When I think of men who share their time and talent, our dedicated Safety Committee are at the head of the line. This group serve in so many capacities by caring about their families, your family and our entire parish. You may or may not know that they are all "on duty" when they enter St Mark. What a blessing to know that they are trained to help with an accident, illness, fire, weather, unruly persons, and God forbid — active shooting. They are truly the eyes and ears of the parish. They answered the call when Fr Stanley asked them to serve. THEY CARE!!! "Prayer is the best amour we have, it is the key which opens the heart of God." (St Padre Pio) These men are our silent warriors'. This ministry is a fine example of doing what is right and just.
St Pope John Paul II told us "Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought." Love this!!! We can never go wrong, doing the right thing! In addition, Pope Francis shared "Just because God created us in His image, we also received from Him, the great gift of freedom. If it is not used well, freedom can lead us away from God, can make us lose the dignity with which He clothed us."
May our loving God provide you with a happy and safe week. Mary Jo
