Love is in the air! Even though Valentine's Day is a “Hallmark Holiday”, February 14th of each year creates a tie to thinking of those we love. Many think of the ooey gooey chocolate treats or the tiny little sugar hearts with the clever sayings. For some a beautiful rose is the prefect representation of the love of someone or the treasured card. What does Valentine’s Day look like in your family. This is the perfect time to reflect on love given and received – not just the kind of love we show one another. We know God’s love is unchanging and unwavering for us each day.
The Bible doesn’t have any specific messages about Valentine’s Day and yet it is filled with examples of God’s love and how we should love him and one another. Love is our destiny, beginning at birth with our parents. It is difficult to find the meaning of life by ourselves. We find it through each other.
Let us pray God of love, open my heart that I may love you above all others and selflessly love others. May this love come from a sense of affection, care and respect. Amen
