Dear Parish Family, Did you ever look at someone and wonder what is going on with them? We all have noticed behavior that seems somewhat out of the ordinary or even odd. It is difficult to know what battles are going on behind the scenes. Everyone has issues – health, job, family, friends and even situations where we just can’t think clearly. Without an open dialog, it may not easily become apparent what is troubling a person. Respect for others, curtails what conversation, we initiate. Only when we feel we are in a safe environment, do we test the waters and share what battles we’re fighting. St Faustina said it best: “In a difficult moment I will fix upon the silent heart of Jesus. The exploding flames. of his merciful heart will flow down upon me the power and strength to keep fighting.” No one can measure the depth of issues that encapsulate others. Some see an enormous challenge, while others may see it as an opportunity. According to St Augustine,” We must understand that even though God doesn’t always give us what we want, He always gives us what we need.” Have your thoughts ever challenged this? Drawing a comparison may be a helpful remedy for our troubles. Are they monumental in the scheme of things, or do we need to put them in perspective? Prayer is our most effect way of starting to fight a battle.” Father, I am seeking, I am hesitant, and uncertain, but will you O God, watch over each step of mine and guide me? (St Augustine) Let’s share the gift of listening, a helping hand, a prayer and a beautiful caring heart to all who are struggling. Mary Jo
