As I was schlepping my favorite, but tired recliner into the car for the trip to the upholster my thoughts turned to relationships. Restoration is an important part of relationships. Do we simply not see when interactions became ignored, "old hat", or a bit too comfy? During Easter Season we reflect on renewal. Have I neglected a family member or friend in a way that they do not feel loved or important -much less diminishing them, by not seeing their needs. This is the perfect time to see the person right in front of me and not look over or through them.
Spring brings a season of new beginnings, a fresh start and optimism. Much like restoration it brings things back to life. Restoration involves, thought, effort and upkeep. If you have ever refinished a piece of furniture, it is a lot of work, but oh, so beautiful when you see the result. We may invoke the intercession of St Raphael the Archangel, as a healer of mind, body, and spirit to help with our restoration. His name in Hebrew literally means “God heals.”
We all have the ability to share compassion and the promise of healing and renewal. Thus, restoring what is broken. The doctrine of restoration is the principle of the gospel and truth of salvation.
May our loving God inspire and guide you on your personal restoration. Mary Jo
