Dear Parish Family, I am calling this note to all of you This & That! The loss of a child, no matter what the age, is traumatic to any family. As parents, we believe the natural thing is for us to go before our children, and yet that often is not the case. The Archdiocese of Detroit Family Support Ministries will hold a Grief workshop at St Anastasia Parish in Troy, Saturday, November 6th from 8:30 to 4:00pm. This is for couples and individuals who have experienced the loss of a child at any age or stage of life. This understandable trauma of child loss affects family dynamics and how to love each other through this experience. REMINDERS As a welcoming community, it has been great to see some new faces here at St Mark. Please take time to say “hello” and extend that warmth. Families with children enrolled in our Christian Formation program are asked to attend one of the weekend Masses on a regular basis. This is an ongoing extension of learning and practicing their developing faith. This is a clarification of names for Mass Intentions being published in the bulletin. Every effort is made to have the correct name and spelling of each person’s name. Needless to say, there may be slipups. If you have requested a Mass Intention after Tuesday, and it is for that upcoming weekend, it will not be published. The bulletin has gone to press. Please use this as a reminder to get your intentions in earlier. If you or families you know of are in need of food, please contact our outreach ministry for help. This is where your generous donations of food, funds, and Our Simply Give from Meijer’s serves our brothers and sisters suffering from Food insecurity/ better known as hunger! Please do not put items in the recycle bin other that newspapers and magazines. This is for paper only! Yes, we do get a few dollars every three months from the company, and we all know – “every penny, helps!” We know that our parishioners would not be bringing an attic or basement full of “stuff” and putting it on the ground next to the St Vincent de Paul Receptacle. If it is full, please wait a couple of days for it to be emptied. Recently, Fr Stanley was speaking to the driver from SVDP. He expressed his concern for items being left out in the rain. The driver responded that “all of those items must be disposed of for obvious reasons”. Can you imagine the time and effort it takes Steve to remove items on the ground and discard them? Picture this …. Having to cut a mattress and springs with a saw to fit in the dumpster – not to mention, full of bed bugs. May you all have a very blessed day! Mary Jo
