Dear Parish Family, As I recited this prayer – Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created, And You shall renew the face of the earth. I prayed for God to truly enlighten me and open my heart and mind to what I should do with my life. Do you feel the need for Him to light and guide your path? As we know, the Holy Spirit is one of the three Divine persons of the Trinity. There is no physical manifestation, but one that dwells within us. We are told He guides us in the way of truth. With the myriad of falsehoods perpetrated daily, we need to seek what is the truth. This is where our prayers ask the Holy Spirit to guide us and be of help and comfort on our life’s journey. In Galatians 5:22, St Paul tells us that “the fruit of the spirit is love, peace, patience, endurance, faith, kindness, generosity, mildness and chastity.” The Holy Spirit is an advocate and helps to use the gifts which were given to us, see the world more clearly and make wiser decisions. Luke 1:35 informs us of the depth of faith the Blessed Mother experienced when Christ was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. She also was present along with the apostles at the first Pentecost. In True Devotion to the Holy Spirit, Archbishop Luis Martinez shares “true devotion to Mary - is true devotion to the Holy Spirit.” May our loving God bless you. Mary Jo
