Dear Parish Family, With regard to our daddy, did you ever think “no matter how tall I grow, I will always look up to you!” As we celebrate Father’s Day, do you see a little of your father in you, either looks wise or in your personality? The relationship of fathers to their children is at the heart of this important vocation. The Father calls us to him by imitating his own gift of himself to the Son and Holy Spirit. We are grateful for the sacrifices that our fathers make. Fathers play such a vital role in the lives of their children on a personal level and in their spiritual development. Fathers are called to show their children protection, guidance and strength throughout their lives. Roland Warren who heads up the National Fatherhood Initiative said, “the main roles of a dad are to provide, nurture and guide.” We often think of the role fathers play in the lives of sons, but for daughters, he is a role model to show his daughter what a good relationship with a man is like. A loving gentle dad will set the stage for the qualities to be looked for in an adult. It is said that fathers are the strongest encouragement for girls to become independent strong women. Male or female everyone needs a solid relationship with a dad, grandfather, godfather, uncle, or friend who fills this role. May God Bless every father and let him know how much he is loved and how grateful we are for the sacrifices he makes. Mary Jo
