Dear Parish Family, Sunshine in our area seems to have taken a hiatus. This is not about weather, but rather how do we bring sunshine to others. The song: You Are My Sunshine You make me happy when skies are gray. A happy tune, right? This song was written nine decades ago, and played during a Veterans of Foreign Wars assembly in Georgia as an ode to a horse named “Sunshine.” Each of us can bring a little bit of sunshine to those around us. Sunshine makes everyone happier and more cheerful. St Francis de Sales tells us “Faith is like a bright ray of sunlight. It enables us to see God in all things as well as all things in God.” We have heard it said many times “the light you brought into my heart fills my life and makes me happy every day.” Do you know someone who is Mr. or Ms. “doom and gloom?” We have all encountered people like that! Nothing seems to be right or good enough. Hopefully, this is not you or me. Let’s try and incorporate a few of these suggestions into our consciousness and bring a ray of light to others. 1.Smile at a stranger 2.Listen 3.Offer to help someone 4.Let someone into traffic 5.Hold the door for someone behind you 6.Send a note or greeting card 7.Text an uplifting Bible verse 8.Remind people how much you love them 9.Engage in a conversation with someone you do not know 10.Be present 11.Help someone for no reason at all 12.Let someone cut in front of you 13.Hug someone 14.Tell someone they are beautiful 15.Share an encouraging story 16.Ask if you can help 17.Be a voice for someone who can’t find words 18.Just because, do something nice 19.Give a compliment 20.Tell someone – they matter 21.Express gratitude 22.Acknowledge someone 23.Be present 24.Offer to pray for someone 25.Pray with someone 26.Thank God If all of us did even a few of these things, we could all sing Oh, What A Wonderful World !!
