What? Walk away? This can be a challenge for those of us who do not like to leave things hanging or not completed. Walking away may be the most powerful method of opening yourself up to growth. It is important to walk away from arguments that lead us to anger and nowhere, people who put us down, trying to please those who do not see our worth, or judgmental people who do not know what you have been through. It is also crucial to make room for the positive, by clearing out the negative. Jesus walked away from those who tried to restrict him and consume His time in order that He could reach out others. Perhaps this should be our mantra!: “I am learning to love the sound of my feet walking away from things not meant for me.”
Through prayer, we ask for discernment to know the difference between people who we can help and need God’s care, and toxic people. At times walking away may be frightening and painful, but remembering that as we close one door, we open another that God has designed for us. Much of this comes from our inner strength and the realization of who we are! Mistakes and fear do not determine our fate. Letting go of poison within us can be cleansing and make us healthier.
Christ, hear us, that we may be detached from the things in this world and strive for that which truly matters. Help me to be the best version of who You want me to be. Amen
